Ballooning of spiderlings during warm spell on November 12th, 2010 along Mud Stream. A spectacular event!

Spider silk floating in the air, attaching itself on every
available surface it comes in contact with, and on
each end a spider!
Ballooning is a dispersal mechanism used by hatched spiderlings
to find new habitat.
The warm weather could have been the reason for this late hatch.
We watched a spider skating past our boat and were so captivated by the process that we did not get a picture.
